The design of the Megane E-Tech Electric was revealed in official photos a couple of days ago, and now the key characteristics of the model have become known. Thus, the car is built on the CMF-EV modular platform, which the Franco-Japanese Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi developed specifically for electric vehicles. The design of this chassis does not provide for the installation of an internal combustion engine at all, which allows engineers, in particular, to carve out maximum free space with small dimensions.

The dimensions of the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric are 4210 x 1780 x 1500 mm, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The trunk volume is 440 liters (for the initial version with a smaller battery).

The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is offered in two versions. Both are equipped with a single electric motor, but its output differs: the younger version produces 96 kW/130 hp and 250 Nm, the older one – 160 kW/218 hp and 300 Nm. In the first case, a battery with a capacity of 40 kWh is paired (range – 300 km according to the WLTP cycle), in the second – 60 kWh (470 km). According to the manufacturer, after the end of the battery's service life, it can be recycled by 95%.

The more powerful and torquier version weighs 1624 kg (which, by the way, is a little for an electric car), accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 160 km/h (however, it is electronically limited).

In the basic configuration, the electric Megane will be offered with a 9-inch multimedia screen. Optionally, you can order a 12-inch touchscreen and also a 12.3-inch instrument panel with 4K resolution. The media complex is based on the Android OS.

Buyers will be offered six body colors (with several contrasting shades), 18-20-inch alloy wheels to choose from. The manufacturer also promises advanced cruise control (can work even in traffic jams), a system for controlling the car's position on the road without markings, a smart speed limiter (relies on navigation data), automatic braking when reversing, and an auto-parking assistant.

Production of the electric Megane will be established at the Renault plant in Douai, France. First deliveries are scheduled for early 2022, but orders will begin to be accepted at the end of this year.
