In the Old World, used cars have increased in price over the past year. This is due to the decline in the new car market, which, in turn, suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic uncertainty. For example, in Germany, sales of cars without mileage fell by as much as 30% (in January 2021 compared to the same period last year), with positive dynamics recorded only in one segment – electric vehicles.

As follows from the infographic (see above) published by one of the largest car sales platforms in Europe - AutoScout24, now Europeans pay on average 800 euros more for a used car than in January 2020.
As for segments, in Europe the most significant price increases were for small cars (A-, B-class), mid-size cars (C-class) and upper mid-size cars (E-class) – by 3-4%. Thus, city compacts now cost on average 11,344 euros, mid-size cars - 21,376 euros, and upper mid-size cars – as much as 27,958 euros. In all other segments, prices rose by no more than 2%. The only exceptions were vans and minibuses – they became cheaper by almost 1%.
In addition, a slight price increase was noted among old used cars (which are often sold not in Germany but exported to Eastern Europe) – by 1%.
We note that earlier AvtoPortal published the first list of the most popular used cars in Ukraine for 2021.
