In recent years, the production of passenger cars at the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Plant has practically come to naught. Today, only buses and commercial vehicles roll off its assembly line. However, judging by the latest data, the company Renault is considering the possibility of buying out the enterprise with the aim of resuming production.
However, it is hardly worth expecting that in the near future the Ukrainian market will be flooded with thousands of new Renault Logan at an affordable price. The fact is that Renault owns a stake in the company Lada and has already announced its intention to produce new models Lada Largus, Lada Vesta, and Lada X-Ray at the plant's facilities. As for Renault's own flagship models, one can count at most on the Renault Arkana, and even that will be assembled from components supplied for Lada.
This news evokes mixed reactions. On the one hand, launching production at the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Plant is undoubtedly a positive step. On the other hand, many Ukrainians have a wary attitude towards cars with Russian roots, which is largely due to political factors.
The editorial staff of Avtoportal will closely monitor the development of the situation around ZAZ and keep readers informed. Let us hope that Ukraine will still see its own Renault Logan, or updated versions of the Daewoo Lanos and Chevrolet Aveo.
