Interior Minister Arsen Avakov reported that the government has approved an initiative to update the police fleet with hybrid vehicles based on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric) crossover.

"This program was developed jointly with Japanese government and business structures and is implemented under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, known as the Kyoto Protocol. As a result, the National Police of Ukraine will receive 651 modern Mitsubishi vehicles, which will replace hopelessly outdated VAZ and UAZ cars," Avakov wrote on his Twitter.

The department believes that the use of Mitsubishi hybrid crossovers will not only reduce fuel costs but also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"Speaking of the advantages of this car, it is worth noting: the maximum range is 897 km, on pure electric power you can drive 52 km, fuel consumption is 1.9 liters per 100 km, CO2 emissions are 44 grams per kilometer, and the top speed reaches 170 km/h," summarized A. Avakov.

It should be added that Mitsubishi Motors positions the Outlander PHEV as the world's first plug-in hybrid crossover that can be used as a power source for a private home. This became possible thanks to V2H (Vehicle to Home) technology. In other words, the car can not only be charged from a regular household outlet but also transfer stored energy back.
