This information was announced by Hans Holzgartner, who holds the position of sales director at Bentley. Among the reasons that prompted the company to create an electric model, the tightening of environmental standards for new cars, initiated by China and a number of other states, is mentioned.
"Apparently, the release of a sedan with a fully electric powertrain will be the only way for us to maintain a presence in the market in some Chinese cities," a company management representative shared with Autocar.
If the project receives approval, the electric modification of the Mulsanne will also appear in a number of European countries where authorities are planning to tighten emission requirements or are considering a ban on cars with internal combustion engines.
