Starting November 7, new rules come into force, according to which traffic violations will be recorded automatically, and notifications about fines will be sent to violators by mail. Responsibility for such violations will be borne by both individuals and companies in whose name the car is registered.

However, there is an important nuance: in Kyiv, not to mention small towns, there are currently serious problems with surveillance cameras. Their number is clearly insufficient for the full operation of the new system. The plans include installing up to two thousand such devices in the capital. But, according to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Artem Shevchenko, by November it will actually be possible to install only part of the cameras — on the most accident-prone sections and intersections.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also explained that fines will not be imposed from the first violation, but only from the third. For the first three violations recorded by the camera, the driver will be debited 50 "bonus" points for each, and only then will a fine follow — at least 255 hryvnias, for example, for speeding. Payment can be made with a discount: within five days after receiving the notification — only half of the amount, within 30 days — the full cost, and if you meet the 60-day deadline — you will have to pay twice as much. If the driver ignores the payments even after that, the police will transfer the resolution to the executive service, and the fine will be collected forcibly.
