The law increases liability for driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants, or under the influence of medications that reduce attention and reaction speed.

From now on, driving while intoxicated carries the following penalties and fines:

a fine of 600 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 10,200) with license suspension for 1 year;

for a repeated offense (within a year) — a fine of 1200 non-taxable minimum incomes (UAH 20,400) with license suspension for 3 years;

if a person has been subjected to such administrative penalty twice within a year, for refusing to undergo examination for substance use — a fine of 2400 non-taxable minimum incomes (UAH 40,800), license suspension for 10 years.

Consumption of alcohol by a driver after an accident or after the vehicle has been stopped at the request of a police officer, before a medical examination is conducted – a fine of UAH 20,400 or administrative arrest for 15 days with license suspension for 3 years.
