According to the Nissan press service, the technology will provide simpler and safer driving on highways. It is known that initially, the new product with autopilot will be available only on the local market, in Japan.

The system is capable of fully automatically controlling the accelerator, braking system, and steering wheel simultaneously. The ProPILOT function can recognize various road situations, changing the driving style. The accelerator, braking system, and steering are controlled based on information received from the ProPILOT system's cameras. The device is equipped with special software for image processing and can quickly determine both the position of the vehicle ahead and the road marking lines.

ProPILOT automatically controls the distance to the vehicle ahead, taking into account the speed range set by the driver, and operates within the range of 30 to 100 km/h. The system can also automatically engage the braking system. As soon as it becomes possible to resume movement, the ProPILOT system can be reactivated by the driver using a switch or the accelerator pedal.

The "multi-lane" version of the ProPILOT 2.0 system, which is scheduled to appear in 2018, will be able to automatically change lanes, and the ProPILOT 3.0 system will be designed for fully automatic driving in urban conditions, even at intersections. The market launch of ProPILOT 3.0 is planned for 2020.
