The moose test is a difficult challenge that not all modern cars can pass. And the Citroen Xantia in 1999 passed it with a record speed of 85 km/h. For comparison, even now a speed of 77 km/h is considered an excellent result, and the best today, the Tesla Model 3, showed only 83 km/h.

This result was achieved thanks to the active hydropneumatic suspension, which reduces body roll and improves handling. It was these cars that were brought to the moose test in Spain.

The test involved a Citroen Xantia VSX from 1993 with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 155 hp, a 1997 hatchback with a 150-horsepower turbo engine, and a 1999 Xantia with a turbodiesel producing 108 hp.

Of course, the cars are not the newest, so they could not repeat the achievement of 22 years ago. The best result is 73 km/h, but this is still the level of modern Volkswagen ID.4 and even Mercedes S-Class with air suspension.
