This is confirmed by a video published by the YouTube channel M539 Restorations (judging by the name, it is entirely dedicated to the "M5" in the E39 body). The video shows a sedan run on the autobahn, where the car managed to reach the factory maximum — 300 km/h!

In addition, the video shows the external condition of the car — it impresses no less. The body has retained its original shine, the headlights show no hint of clouding, and the underbody and engine bay look like those of a new car.

Let us remind you that the BMW M5 E39 debuted in 1998. It stayed on the assembly line for only five years, but during that time it managed to turn into a true legend that many car enthusiasts still dream of. Under the hood of the BMW M5 E39 is a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that produces 400 hp and 500 Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.1 seconds. The top speed of such "fives" was electronically limited to 250 km/h, but after removing this restriction, one could confidently count on speeds above 300 km/h.
