The amount of compensation upon dismissal is determined by the length of service and the employee's position. For example, a 55-year-old group leader who has worked for 30 years and earns 9,000 euros per month can claim the largest payment — 500,000 euros. In turn, a 45-year-old administrator with 20 years of experience and a salary of 7,500 euros can receive 300,000 euros, and a 30-year-old employee with an income of 6,000 euros — 100,000 euros.
It should be emphasized that in Europe there is no question of forced dismissal of employees. Staff have a job guarantee that lasts until the end of 2034, so Mercedes-Benz is trying to encourage people to voluntarily leave by offering favorable financial conditions. If someone refuses, the company will not resort to pressure or coercion.
In total, Mercedes-Benz currently employs about 30,000 people whose duties are not related to production. It is expected that they will receive severance offers, and they will be awaited for a response until July 31 of this year.
Earlier, the automaker had already launched a significant savings program that involves reducing fixed costs and is already showing first results. The reason for such steps was the difficult economic situation and the decline in sales in the Chinese market, which for a long time remained a reliable source of profit for the company.
