In the Brazilian city of Itajaí, law enforcement officers raided a workshop where counterfeit Ferrari and Lamborghini sports cars were being assembled. Such cars were sold throughout the country at a price not exceeding eight percent of the cost of a real car. The copy could be ordered through online platforms, reports ND+.
The enterprise belonged to a father and son, whose names have not been disclosed. Both are currently under a travel ban, and the production itself has been sealed by the police. During the search, eight fully assembled supercars and kits of parts for assembly were seized from the site. All of this has been confiscated. The starting price for such cars was 180 thousand dollars.
At the same time, Ferrari and Lamborghini have already filed a complaint with the police regarding the illegal use of their design. However, apparently, the Brazilian businessmen face only a significant fine.
Copying the appearance of popular foreign cars is especially common in China. For example, the Landwind brand makes a compact crossover similar to the Range Rover Evoque. Also, Changan presented the X70A model, which replicates the look of the fourth-generation Land Rover Discovery. And the Zotye brand intends to launch a copy of the Mazda CX-4 with a coupe body into production.
