Lotus has officially unveiled its new hypercar with impressive specifications. According to Verge, series production of the Evija model will start in 2020. The production run will be limited to 130 units. The price of the new model will start at $1.86 million. The cars will be assembled by hand at a facility in Norfolk, England.

Under the hood, the Evija is powered by four electric motors fed by a 70-kilowatt-hour battery. The total output of the powertrain reaches approximately 2000 horsepower. Thanks to these figures, the new model claims the title of the most powerful production car in the world. The hypercar's top speed exceeds 320 kilometers per hour. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes less than three seconds. The driver has five driving modes: Range, City, Tour, Sport, and Track.

The Lotus Evija has a range of 400 kilometers. Recharging the batteries to 80 percent takes just 12 minutes. Adaptive Multimatic dampers are installed on each axle. Thanks to an ultra-light carbon fiber monocoque, the car weighs only 1680 kilograms. Additionally, the car is equipped with active aerodynamic elements and retractable cameras instead of traditional rearview mirrors, which helps reduce the drag coefficient.
The hypercar has upward-opening doors without handles, which open via a key fob. The car also features a retractable spoiler, laser-phosphor headlights (operating in low and high beam modes), and a splitter. The driver has access to a media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, with over-the-air updates.
It is worth recalling that the British sports car manufacturer Lotus has come under the control of the Chinese company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which also owns the Swedish brand Volvo. The Chinese bought 51 percent of Lotus shares from Malaysia's Proton, while the remaining 49 percent are held by the Etika Automotive group.
