The parties are discussing several areas of partnership. This could involve the supply of German powertrains and components for Volvo cars, as well as more significant steps, up to the purchase of a stake in the enterprise. In addition, Daimler and Geely are considering joint work on creating an electric platform. The negotiations have not yet been completed, but according to a number of analysts, the likelihood of reaching an agreement is quite high.
Recall that Volvo has been under the control of China's Geely since 2010. Over the past eight years, relying on financial support from China, the Swedish brand has completely updated its lineup, created a new family of engines and two modular architectures. In February of this year, Geely head Li Shufu became the owner of almost a tenth of Daimler's shares, so the prerequisites for such an alliance did not appear by chance.
