According to available information, the new Ford Focus ST will receive a more powerful powertrain. Earlier, Autocar reported that the next model would be equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine.
However, it is now known that this engine will be installed on the younger versions of the Focus, while the sporty ST modification will get a 2.3-liter unit borrowed from the more powerful RS, instead of the 2.0-liter engine used on the current model.
In addition, a representative of the Blue Oval company stated that the automatic transmission will be refined, and the new Focus ST will be offered only with a manual gearbox.
Despite the fact that the new Ford Focus ST will not be more powerful than its predecessor, it should become more agile, since the regular version of the fourth-generation car has become lighter by 88 kilograms.
