Technical details are not disclosed. It is only known that the main feature of the amphibian should be wheels that retract into the body when the car enters the water.

In autumn 2015, Yamaha presented a prototype of its first production car at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Sports Ride concept car was built using iStream technology developed by Gordon Murray, the creator of the McLaren F1 supercar.

iStream technology is a system for assembling cars from pre-made parts — body panels, chassis components, and elements of the body's power structure. All components are attached to a single chassis that allows creating cars of different classes and sizes. It takes only 100 seconds to produce one part.

All compact Yamaha cars will be assembled using iStream technology. The first Yamaha car is expected to hit the market in late 2017 or early 2018 and will cost about 50 thousand dollars.
