Four political forces that are part of Norway's ruling coalition have supported an initiative that implies a ban on the operation of vehicles with gasoline and diesel engines.

If the cabinet approves this regulatory act, then already in 2025 the country may completely abandon cars that use traditional fuels. The restrictions will likely also affect hybrid models, since their design includes an internal combustion engine.

It is worth noting that at the moment Norway occupies the first line in the world ranking in terms of the share of electric car sales on the domestic market — they account for about 24% of all new cars sold in the country. It is noteworthy that at the same time the state is among the leading oil exporters.

In addition to Norway, the Netherlands and Germany are also considering plans to switch to electric transport.
