The main motive for extending these non-targeted fees for our car plants remains the inability to compete in the free market. For this reason, automakers propose to extend the recycling fee to themselves as well.

The only thing the owners of these enterprises ask for is to preserve some preferences for those who are truly engaged in production, and not in screwing wheels onto an almost assembled car. So this proposal itself looks (at first glance) though unreasonable, but honest.

Why are automakers so clinging to the recycling fee? The fact is that according to the previously adopted law, those enterprises that on paper can recycle old cars are entitled to substantial compensation from the state budget. And it was supposed to be filled precisely at the expense of importers, or rather their clients – you and me.

How to help automakers without reaching into the pocket of the buyer of an imported car is a question for specialists. But hiding behind the good idea of recycling old cars in the current conditions means causing irreparable damage to one's own reputation in the eyes of the public. Or not?

Read also that deputies of the "Udar" faction have prepared draft law No. 4238, which provides for the abolition of the recycling fee.
