In 2013, specialists tested 33 new car models.
Among compact class cars, the electric Renault Zoe was recognized as the leader. The final score was largely determined by the abundance of electronic safety assistants with which this electric car is equipped.

In the compact family car segment, the Qoros 3 Sedan took first place. The body of this Chinese model turned out to be very reliable, and the set of electronic safety systems was quite sufficient. The only complaint from experts was the overly rigid front pillars, which could injure a pedestrian in a collision.

In the large family car category, the Lexus IS 300h distinguished itself, showing a high level of protection in almost all tests.

Among compact vans, the Kia Carens turned out to be the best, providing reliable protection for both adults and children, as well as demonstrating a careful attitude towards pedestrians.

In the same class, victory was also awarded to the Ford Torneo Connect. It generally provided a decent level of safety for adults and children, but the front edge of the hood turned out to be potentially dangerous for pedestrians.

Among SUVs, the Jeep Cherokee took first place. The specialists had minor questions about it based on the results of the rear impact test, as well as due to the lack of information about the prohibition of installing a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat.

In the category of executive sedans, the Maserati Ghibli was named the safest. Minor complaints concerned insufficient protection of the driver's neck in a rear impact (the so-called whiplash).

It is worth recalling that at the end of 2013, the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the European committee Euro NCAP reached an agreement on creating a common crash test methodology.
