The design of the new model almost repeats the Grand Cherokee L – it has the same "squared" body with a characteristic predominance of straight lines and narrow optics. Among the external (and at the same time practical) differences – only dimensions. The regular Grand Cherokee has a wheelbase shorter by 127 mm and amounts to 2964 mm. The length is 4914 mm versus 5204 mm for the "L".

The interior is also unchanged. In the top trim, the SUV can have as many as three screens on the front panel – in addition to the instrument cluster and multimedia display, there is also a touchscreen for the front passenger. If that is not enough, separate "TVs" for rear passengers are also available.

On the technical front, the innovation was the appearance of an electrified powertrain. The Grand Cherokee for the first time in its history became a plug-in hybrid, such a modification is called Grand Cherokee 4xe. It is equipped with a combination of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, two electric motors, and a 17-kilowatt-hour battery. The total power of the drive is 375 hp and 637 Nm, the range on electric power alone is 40 km.

Also included in the lineup are the good old V6 with a volume of 3.6 liters (293 hp) and V8 with a volume of 5.7 liters (357 hp). Both work in tandem with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Among other "features" of the model are the ability to disconnect the front axle drive to reduce fuel consumption, air suspension, etc.

Sales of the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee in America will begin at the end of the year. In Ukraine, the new model will most likely appear in the second half of 2022.
