The electric hatchback Cupra Born officially debuted in the spring. It is the first mass-produced electric car from SEAT and the electric firstborn of the Cupra sub-brand (the model itself is simply called Born). By the way, SEAT itself already has one battery-powered model – the urban compact Mii Electric. This car is production-ready, but it is produced in small batches.

Cupra Born is built on the Volkswagen MEB electric platform. It also underpins the aforementioned Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron, as well as the Skoda Enyaq iV. The car is available in two powertrain variants – 150 and 204 hp. In the first case, only a 45 kWh battery is offered, while in the second, a 58 or 77 kWh battery is available. The most powerful variant accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds, but for it there is also a "turbo package" that increases output to 231 hp. With it, the sprint to 100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds.

Deliveries of the Cupra Born will begin in November. Later, the car will also be assembled in Spain, at the SEAT plant in Martorell. For now, this facility is only being reorganized for the production of electric vehicles. It is expected to be ready by 2025.

By the way, the plant in Zwickau is the first production facility of the Volkswagen Group that specializes exclusively in assembling electric vehicles. It can produce up to 1,400 cars per day and up to 330,000 electric vehicles annually.
