The subcompact SUV Kia Sonet, which has been awaited for so long, has finally arrived at dealers. The manufacturer is entering an oversaturated market with high competition, but at the same time maintains an attractive price — sales start from the $10,000 mark.
Kia Motors plans to offer the Sonet in two key trims — GT-Line and Tech-Line. The first option is available exclusively in a single GTX+ trim, while the second is represented by five versions: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+. In terms of appearance, both modifications received the recognizable Tiger Nose radiator grille with chrome trim, LED optics, and a relief bumper. The SUV is also equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, and optional roof rails. Additionally, the GT-Line version stands out with red decorative elements on the outside, a GT-Line badge on the grille, black inserts in the bumper, and red front brake calipers.
The Kia Sonet offers a number of features that appear for the first time in this segment, including ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch HD multimedia display with support for UVO connected services, as well as a Bose audio system with seven speakers and lighting. In addition, the car is equipped with a Smart Pure Air Purifier air cleaner, and, according to the company, the world's first virus protection system.
Under the hood of the Kia Sonet, three powertrain options are available: a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter gasoline engine, a 1.0-liter turbo diesel, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which is offered in two tuning variants.
Notably, within the first day after the announcement, Kia received more than 25,000 pre-orders for the Sonet.
