“The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the Holy Grail of the automotive world,” notes PEUGEOT brand CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato. “It is a race that chooses its own winner. For us, it is associated not only with three victories, but also with countless feats, delights and disappointments – as well as fruitful cooperation with TOTAL, whose 25th anniversary we are celebrating this year.”

The choice of the LMH category was determined by several factors, one of which was relative freedom in the search for aerodynamic solutions. This will allow, with the support of the PEUGEOT Design division, to integrate a number of visual distinctive brand elements into the new car. Cooperation has already started, and during the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020, the first sketches will be shown and the first design concepts will be presented, taking into account the basic class requirements – in particular, overall dimensions.

PEUGEOT, together with TOTAL, has already begun developing an electric hybrid hypercar, whose expressive design will embody neo-technologies. It will have all-wheel drive and a power of 500 kW.

After research into the overall structure, aerodynamic solutions and engine architecture, a final decision will be made on the concept of the electric powertrain and hybrid drive system. At all stages, all technical departments of the PEUGEOT Sport division will be involved in the development process.

Thus, PEUGEOT Sport is making a turn towards enhanced energy, reinforcing it with the launch of a line of high-power production hybrids PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED, led by the new PEUGEOT 508.
