For the first time in the history of the Lexus ES model, buyers will be offered an all-wheel drive version. The sedan will be equipped with the Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel drive system, which connects the rear axle via an electromagnetic clutch — up to 50 percent of torque can be transmitted to the rear wheels. This solution is already familiar from the RAV4 crossover and the Avalon and Camry sedans.
Under the hood of the Lexus ES 250 AWD will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 205 horsepower. It will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Sales of the all-wheel drive Lexus ES in the United States will start this fall. The starting price for the AWD version will be $39,900.
