This is already the second official image, but there is a nuance: the previous photo featured the diesel Golf GTD, while the badge on the radiator grille of the hatchback in the fresh picture indicates its belonging to the GTI lineup.

The characteristics of the power unit for the Golf GTI are still kept secret. According to preliminary data, the hot hatch will receive a gasoline engine with an output of around 245 horsepower. Later, more powerful versions should appear on the market, for example, the 300-horsepower Golf TCR and the Golf R with a 333-horsepower setup.

As for the mentioned diesel modification, earlier Volkswagen stated that it would receive "one of the cleanest engines in the world." The 2.0 TDI Evo engine is equipped with "double dosing" technology – two selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems and separate injectors for injecting AdBlue fluid into the exhaust gas flow. This system has made it possible to achieve an 80 percent reduction in nitrogen oxide levels.

Both "hot" Golfs will debut on March 3 in Geneva.
