The Grappler concept differs from the regular Veloster primarily in appearance: increased ground clearance, bumpers with cut edges and protective trim, a bull bar, a carbon fiber hood from Seibon, and additional Baja Designs lighting. On the roof of the show car, there is a Thule roof rack with a Goal Zero solar panel attached. The hatchback's unique body paint completes the look.
Inside, a built-in roll cage and Recaro seats are installed. The cabin also includes a first aid kit and repair kit, a Napier awning, and a Goal Zero portable power station. There is no data on the Grappler's engine. In the American market, the Veloster is available with a naturally aspirated 2.0 engine producing 149 hp (179 Nm) or a turbocharged 1.6 developing 204 hp (264 Nm). Depending on the engine, the hatchback is equipped with a six-speed manual, automatic, or seven-speed robotic gearbox.
