Genesis has officially presented the production electric crossover GV60 Magma at the Circuit Paul Ricard track in France. This is the debut model of the new sports sub-brand Magma, which the company positions as a competitor to Mercedes-AMG and BMW M. Information is published on the official manufacturer's website.
GV60 Magma is the first production Genesis vehicle with high performance; its electric powertrain delivers up to 650 hp. For the unveiling, a race track was chosen instead of a typical auto show, which is meant to emphasize the brand's sporty focus.
Technical features of the GV60 Magma electric crossover
The car has two electric motors: in normal mode they provide 609 hp and 740 Nm of torque, and when Boost Mode is activated for a quarter of a minute, the figures increase to 650 hp and 790 Nm respectively. With Launch Control, the 2240 kg car accelerates to 96 km/h in 3.4 seconds, to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds, and the top speed reaches 264 km/h.
Energy is provided by an 84 kWh battery with 800-volt architecture, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. The crossover features adaptive suspension with electronic control, an electronic limited-slip differential, and larger front brakes with 400 mm discs and monobloc calipers.
Three driving modes and simulated gear shifting
The driver has access to Sprint, GT, and MY modes — the latter allows individual adjustment of the differential, stability system, and other parameters. There is also a Drift Mode for controlled slides, a High-Performance Battery Control system that regulates battery temperature during intense driving, and Virtual Gear Shift, which simulates gear changes and the sound of a high-revving engine.
Externally, the model features different front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler, and a ride height lowered by approximately 20 mm. The car will sit on exclusive 21-inch forged wheels with wide 275 mm tires, created by Pirelli specifically for Magma. Inside, there is Chamude upholstery on the seats, doors, and center console, a unique steering wheel, and special stitching.
Sales of the Genesis GV60 Magma in the US and Europe are planned for 2026. The preliminary price is from approximately 74 thousand dollars.
