The Volkswagen e-Beetle uses components from the Volkswagen e-Up!, including a 36.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor producing 82 horsepower. The batteries, mounted in the floor of the car, provide a range of 200 km and are compatible with a fast charging system.

The electric car, which features a reinforced chassis and new braking mechanisms, weighs 1,280 kilograms. The Volkswagen e-Beetle can accelerate from standstill to 50 km/h in 4 seconds, and to 80 km/h in just over 8 seconds. The car's top speed is 150 km/h.
Volkswagen has not yet commented on the possibility of putting such a car into production. However, the company notes that it is ready to develop electric versions of other classic cars, including the Porsche 356 sports car. In future projects, the Germans may use components from the MEB platform, developed for next-generation electric vehicles.
