The show car is a modern interpretation of the classic beach buggies that first appeared in California in the 1960s. In particular, it refers to the Meyers Manx model, built on the basis of the Volkswagen Beetle by American surfer and engineer Bruce Meyers.

The overall length of the Volkswagen ID Buggy was 4063 mm, width - 1890 mm, height - 1463 mm, and the wheelbase size is 2650 mm. The suspension with 238-millimeter ground clearance and off-road BF Goodrich tires on 18-inch alloy wheels help to move on sand.
The concept has two seats, but the design of the concept provides for the installation of a rear row of seats. In addition, there is a luggage compartment at the rear with mounts for off-road skateboards.

The buggy is based on the MEB platform, specially designed for electric cars. The Volkswagen ID Buggy is equipped with a single electric motor developing 204 hp and 309 Nm of torque. The traction is transmitted to the rear axle.
The concept is capable of accelerating from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, and its maximum speed is 159 km/h. A set of lithium-ion batteries with 62 kWh capacity allows driving up to 250 km without recharging.
