The electric prototype, hidden under camouflage film, was tested in harsh conditions beyond the Arctic Circle — in the Swedish town of Arjeplog. Specialists checked how the electric powertrain, chassis, all-wheel drive system, steering, and brakes behave. The cars were driven on snowy tracks and the ice of frozen lakes, where traction was minimal. In addition, the effects of frost on batteries, the energy redistribution system, and the operation of the climate control system were assessed. The BMW iNext concept was shown to the public last autumn, and the production version is expected in 2021.
