As Autocar writes, citing an official brand representative, sales will start immediately after the presentation, and the price will be announced later.
The new model will be built on a platform developed jointly with BMW for the third-generation Z4 roadster. Work on the common architecture has been underway since 2014. In the hierarchy of the Japanese brand, the model will be positioned above the GT86 and will become the company's flagship coupe.
The car will feature an inline six-cylinder engine, front-engine layout, and rear-wheel drive. It is expected that under the hood will be a three-liter petrol unit from BMW with about 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h will take about 4.5 seconds.
The engine will be paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The body will be made of aluminum and steel, and the car's weight will be about 1500 kg with an ideal 50:50 weight distribution.
Later, based on the same powertrain, a hybrid modification will appear, as well as a more powerful GRMN version.
The model's predecessor was produced from 1978 to 2002 and went through four generations. Initially, the car was part of the Celica family and was called the Supra Celica.
