In Lyon (France), the parties signed a document that relieves Ukrainian carriers of the need to obtain separate permits for bilateral and transit trips to EU countries. This decision makes it possible not to stop the export of Ukrainian goods through automobile checkpoints.
Work on this agreement started back in the autumn of last year. However, due to the complicated logistics in Ukraine, related to blocked seaports and damaged transport infrastructure, the EU significantly accelerated the approval of the document.
Separately, the agreement provides for a simplified procedure for recognizing driver's licenses. Now citizens of Ukraine and the EU will not have to obtain international licenses if their national licenses were issued by one of the parties to the agreement.
The document will be valid for one year, and this term can be extended. Already today it begins to work in a temporary mode, and after the completion of all ratification procedures, it will acquire permanent validity.
Due to the blockade of sea routes, road transport has taken on significantly more load, so the need for permits for international transportation has increased many times over in certain directions. Without such documents, carriers cannot transport goods for export or import by road.
