As is known, the Verkhovna Rada doubled the excise tax rate. In return, the recycling fee was abolished. The Parliament also plans to reduce the special duty on car imports.

According to Oleh Omelnytskyi, director of the analytical agency AUTO-Consulting, the excise tax was doubled, but the Interagency Commission reduced special duties on foreign cars with petrol engines from 1 to 2.2 liters by a third. In addition, deputies voted in the first reading for the abolition of the recycling fee.

The increase in the excise tax rate will significantly affect the price of foreign cars with large engine displacements. For a car with a 3-4 liter engine, the price increase will be 3-4 thousand euros, and for middle-class foreign cars, the price will increase by 200-300 euros.

Cars of Ukrainian assembly, fortunately, are not subject to excise tax, however, the price of "large-unit assembly" cars will increase, as the tax on bodies imported by car assemblers has increased by 110 euros. However, the authorities want to compensate for this price increase by reducing special duties by a third.

Analysts have calculated that if all adopted changes come into force, cars with engines up to 1.5 liters will become cheaper by 6-8%, cars with engines from 1.5 to 2.2 liters will become cheaper by 5-6%. But cars with larger engines will face a price increase.

Cars with diesel engines up to 1.5 liters will become cheaper by 5%, with engine displacements of 1.5 - 2.5 liters will become cheaper by 4-5%. However, cars with diesel engines over 2.5 liters will become more expensive by 5-6 percent.

There is another point - the "excise" will not increase for used cars, and given the abolition of the recycling fee, one should expect the resumption of the flow of used foreign cars from abroad.

There is another factor that could affect the cost of cars. This is the hryvnia exchange rate, which is currently not stable.
