As is known, this is already the second attempt to set a record for the SSC Tuatara. In October, the American hypercar even reached 532.93 km/h, but this achievement was called into question due to the specific video editing.

If the first time the SSC Tuatara was tested on a deserted highway in Nevada, now the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds runway in Florida was chosen for the run – it is there that space shuttles used to land.

The runway is only 3.7 km long, and this time behind the wheel of the SSC Tuatara was not a professional racer, but the owner of the car, Dr. Larry Chaplin. Accordingly, 500 km/h was not achieved this time.

The result of the first run was 450.1 km/h, the second – 460.4 km/h, and the average value – 455.2 km/h. Yes, this is less than in Nevada, but still more than the figure of the previous record holder Koenigsegg Agera RS (447.19 km/h). So the Tuatara still confirmed the title of the fastest production car in the world.

Later, the SSC team plans to return to Nevada and again accelerate the Tuatara to speeds over 500 km/h. Especially since the car's characteristics allow this: the hypercar is equipped with a 5.9-liter V8 twin-turbo with 1750 hp and weighs only 1247 kg.
