The event organizers made this statement, citing Automotive News.

On the territory where the auto show is usually held, a temporary field hospital has been set up. Michigan has recorded about 5.5 thousand cases of coronavirus infection to date, placing the state fourth in the US in terms of the number of detected COVID-19 patients.

It is worth noting that this year, the NAIAS organizers moved the exhibition from January to June, changing the format: the event was to be held mostly outdoors and include show programs, concerts, test drives, seminars, and children's entertainment. However, due to the pandemic, the auto show has been postponed until at least 2021. Consequently, the pause between the last held show and the next one will be two and a half years.
