An American supercar with a unique identification number turned out to be significantly more expensive than the French hypercar Bugatti Chiron, whose price starts at 2.4 million euros.

The auction was won by 70-year-old Rick Hendrick, owner of the NASCAR racing team Hendrick Motorsports. General Motors stated that all proceeds from the sale will be donated to charitable causes — in particular, for the construction of new schools and the improvement of Detroit's educational infrastructure.

The first Corvette with a mid-mounted engine received a rich configuration: it features sports seats, the Z51 Performance racing package, and the exterior stands out with black and red inserts. Under the hood is a standard 6.2-liter V8 engine with 502 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed robotic gearbox. The regular version of such a car in the US is estimated at about 107 thousand dollars, and at the auction the lot went for 28 times more.
