As reported by American media, future vehicles will be the most expensive government Chevy Suburbans in history. It will take two years to manufacture them.
The SUVs are intended for use by employees of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DSS), which is responsible, among other things, for ensuring the security of diplomatic missions in 170 countries and 30 American cities.

The development of the Chevrolet Suburban will be handled by the GM Defense division. Such a high price (one unit will cost 3.6 million) is explained by the fact that the SUVs will be built from scratch, and they will be "tuned" to the special requirements of the customer. For example, a special chassis will be created for them, adapted to a higher payload and greater weight. Obviously, such Suburbans will be armored and equipped with weapons.
If everything goes smoothly, the Bureau of Diplomatic Security expects to sign another contract with GM – for the supply of 200 SUVs over nine years starting in May 2023.
Interestingly, as soon as US President Joe Biden took office, he immediately announced his intention to convert the entire state fleet to electric vehicles (and that, mind you, is over 600 thousand cars). So it is possible that at least some of these Chevrolet Suburbans could be electric.
