During the latest series of Euro NCAP crash tests, several models were tested at once: the Mazda3 hatchback, Toyota RAV4 crossover, electric Audi e-tron, Toyota Corolla sedan, compact crossovers Lexus UX and Volkswagen T-Cross, as well as the subcompact Renault Clio.
The new Mazda showed an impressive result — 98% for protection of the driver and adult passengers. This high score made it the fourth car in Euro NCAP history to achieve such a score. Previously, only the Volvo V40, Volvo XC60, and Alfa Romeo Giulia had achieved similar success.
The updated Toyota RAV4 earned 93% for adult safety, 87% for children, 85% for pedestrians, and 77% for the performance of electronic assistants. Almost all types of tests passed without significant comments from experts.
The electric Audi e-tron received 91% for driver and adult protection, 85% for children, 71% for pedestrians, and 76% for electronics. However, experts identified weak protection of the driver's chest in a pole impact. They also pointed out the insufficient effectiveness of the speed limiter system.
The new generation Toyota Corolla scored 95% for adult safety, 84% for children, 86% for other road users, and 77% for electronic systems. Almost all driver assistance functions were rated as 'good', although the lane keeping system received only a 'sufficient' rating.
Similar complaints arose regarding the lane keeping system of the Lexus UX. The crossover showed 96% for adult protection, 85% for children, 82% for pedestrians, and 77% for electronic devices.
The compact Volkswagen T-Cross, which will likely soon reach Russia, also pleased with high results: 97% for driver and adult passenger safety, 86% for children, 81% for pedestrians, and 80% for electronic systems.
