As local media report, a 30-year-old man was returning home in a suburb of Melbourne when he was attacked by two criminals. The attackers threatened the victim with knives and demanded his wallet and car keys.

However, having seized the Australian's Hyundai i20, they failed to fully carry out their plan – the thieves managed to drive only a few meters before the car stalled. Further attempts to drive off also failed – the car kept "bucking" and then stopping. After a few minutes, the would-be carjackers ran out of the vehicle and fled.
On one hand, the situation is absurd and amusing, but on the other hand, it's not surprising: in Australia, only 12% of modern drivers know how to drive a manual. The traditional transmission has long been pushed aside by the automatic, so such failed thefts actually happen with enviable regularity – especially in the US and Europe.
