According to preliminary data, the vehicle will have a double cab, and its main competitors will be the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, and Toyota Hilux. It is not yet known whether Hyundai will create the model from scratch on its own or take a simpler path and release a version based on the Kia Tasman, which appeared in 2024.
The Tasman is based on a fresh ladder-frame platform with independent front suspension and leaf springs at the rear. The model is offered with a 2.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 281 hp or a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 210 hp. An electric modification is also planned. Therefore, the release of a similar pickup under the Hyundai brand looks quite likely.
However, Hyundai has not yet made a final decision regarding the introduction of a ladder-frame pickup in its lineup. In addition, another scenario is being considered — a partnership with General Motors. As Romano noted: “We want to explore what GM can offer.”
