The senior vice president of AvtoVAZ for technical development was tasked with completing the concept stage of the lower price segment car by the end of the year. The crisis, of course, has made its own adjustments, which forced management to postpone the start of production of cars based on the Renault Logan to 2011 (although it was previously planned to start assembling Logan station wagons already in 2009). Nevertheless, work on creating new models will not stop.
The launch of budget car production is scheduled for 2011–2012 — it is by this time that the production of the "eternal" rear-wheel-drive classic will cease. In parallel, work will be carried out on models based on the Renault Logan sedan and the Logan MCV van. It is worth noting that the Lada C project will consist of 40% Renault parts. 220 million euros have already been spent on purchasing licenses from the French manufacturer.
This week, the board of directors of AvtoVAZ also approved a development program until 2012. During this period, the plant's management expects to master $1.8 billion.
VAZ will produce new models
The press service of AvtoVAZ reports that the company intends to master the production of C-class models and "people's cars" in the next few years.
