One of the victims is our reader Anastasia. "On Saturday at about 5 p.m. I left my car near the market on Sevastopol Square. A stranger approached me and offered diesel fuel coupons at 7.5 hryvnias per liter, while the regular price is 10 hryvnias. She explained that she gets the coupons from her husband, who is given them at work. I took three coupons for 20 liters each, paying 450 hryvnias for them," the girl shared.
The authenticity of the coupons did not raise any doubts in her: they had a hologram and a wet seal. "When I arrived at the gas station in the evening, I was immediately told to take these papers back where I got them from — it's a fake. Now I'm going to file a complaint with the police," Anastasia said. The gas station's support service reacted with surprise to the report of the forgery.
"Honestly, we are encountering this for the first time. We will register your complaint, and the security service will join the investigation. Our coupons are also protected by a hologram and barcode, but they can only be purchased at the office, not from third parties," explained the service center operator. The police note that recently such scams with fake fuel coupons have become more frequent.
"Quite recently, we detained a man who was selling counterfeit coupons to long-haul truck drivers. In such situations, you must file a report with the police, indicating the place of purchase. This will help us track down the fraudsters," said the head of the press service of the capital's police, Igor Mikhalko.
