AutoPortal has prepared a list of passenger cars assembled at Ukrainian enterprises in 2021. This list opens, oddly enough, with the very brand that inspired us to create this material.

Kia

Enterprise: ZAZ (Zaporizhia Automobile Plant), Zaporizhia

At the facilities of the Zaporizhia plant, the Korean brand assembles the Rio Sedan sedan and the Rio X hatchback with an off-road body kit. Both models are offered with petrol engines of 1.4 or 1.6 liters, as well as with a manual or automatic gearbox. The range includes both simple versions and well-equipped ones. As for the Rio X, its ground clearance of 195 mm makes it quite suitable for our roads. The price of the Rio sedan starts from about $15,200, while the crossover-style hatchback is priced at $16,000.

Renault

Enterprise: ZAZ (Zaporizhia Automobile Plant), Zaporizhia

The French brand is represented on the Ukrainian assembly line by a single model — the coupe-crossover Arkana. Buyers have access to two petrol engines: a 1.3-liter and a 1.6-liter. The gearbox can be manual or automatic, and the drive can be front or all-wheel. The cost of the car ranges from $18.5 to $29.7 thousand.

Lada

Enterprise: ZAZ (Zaporizhia Automobile Plant), Zaporizhia

The Lada lineup of domestic assembly includes as many as four models. It includes the Granta and Vesta sedans, the Largus station wagon for passenger transport, as well as the XRay hatchback in a crossover style and the Vesta SW Cross station wagon with an off-road accent. All cars in the base trim are equipped with a five-speed manual and a 1.6-liter engine, whose power varies from 87 to 106 horsepower depending on the model. The most affordable Lada on the Ukrainian market is the Granta, with a price starting from $7.8 thousand. And the most expensive is the Vesta SW Cross station wagon, for which they ask from $12.9 thousand.

Skoda

Eurocar enterprise, Zakarpattia Oblast

The Czech brand also produces four models in Ukraine: the Fabia hatchback, the Karoq and Kodiaq crossovers, as well as the flagship Superb liftback. The lowest price among them is for the Fabia: this hatchback with a modest one-liter engine producing 95 hp and a manual gearbox costs $13.6 thousand. Next comes the compact crossover Karoq, whose starting price is $22,350 — in the base it comes with a 1.4 engine with 150 hp and an automatic transmission. Slightly more expensive is the mid-size Kodiaq, for which dealers ask from $28.5 thousand (for this money, a version with a two-liter diesel and manual is offered). The lineup is completed by the Superb, with a minimum price of $33 thousand (a 2.0 petrol engine and automatic gearbox).

It is worth emphasizing that there is no full-fledged production of passenger cars in Ukraine. All the listed models are assembled using the large-unit, so-called "screwdriver" assembly method. Ready-made car kits are supplied to the plants, from which cars are then assembled. In essence, such cars are difficult to call produced in Ukraine, but legally they are considered as such, since they are assigned a Ukrainian VIN code.
