This year, despite the situation in the country and on the car market in particular, the French brand has not changed its traditions. VIP guests were driven to the red carpet of the festival in Renault cars.

Thus, the automaker and its representative in Ukraine, Renault Ukraine, once again show that Renault and cinema are inseparable. After all, this brand has been cooperating with the film industry for over 110 years! On February 13, 1895, the Lumière brothers, Auguste and Louis, patented the first device "for recording and viewing chronophotographic images." This is how cinema was born. Just four years later, Louis Renault appeared in a film behind the wheel of a Type A voiturette. He became one of the first industrialists to realize the potential of the new genre for advertising their products.

At the 2015 Odessa Film Festival, 20 Renault cars were used, and the new Renault Captur crossover was also exhibited (see our Captur test). Of course, not only film lovers and foreign directors came to such an event, but also the newly appointed governor of the Odessa region, Mikheil Saakashvili. He and other VIPs arrived in personal cars, some with security and blocked access roads. An electric Tesla also showed up at the red carpet. Watch our short video report:
Throughout its long history, Renault has established close ties with television and film companies. Renault cars appear on TV screens around the world, from TV series to feature films. For the needs of film companies, a fleet of about 40 cars is always available, representing the full model range of the brand (traditional and electric vehicles).

Among the landmark cultural events of global scale supported by Renault are the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals, as well as film festivals in Deauville, Lyon, Angoulême, Alpe d'Huez, Cabourg, Marrakech, London, San Sebastián, Valladolid, and, of course, Odessa.
For reference: out of 530 films from 75 countries submitted for the competition of the 6th Odessa International Film Festival, the selection committee chose 12 films from the USA, Great Britain, Israel, Turkey, Russia, Colombia, Croatia, Iran, France, Denmark, and Ukraine, which will compete for the Grand Prix of the OIFF - the Golden Duke - and other awards of the International Competition of OIFF-2015.
The National Competition Program includes 6 feature films and 18 short films. Two Ukrainian films took part in both the National and International competitions simultaneously.
