Under the write-off procedure, 1,666 cars, 405 trucks, and 73 buses were decommissioned, according to analysts at the Automotive Market Research Institute.
Ukrainians most often part with legendary "people's" cars – the list of leaders includes all the VAZ classics: from "kopecks" to "nines" and 99s. Our "Tavrias" with "Slavutas" and the once-popular Daewoo Lanos are not far behind.
The reason is simple – age. The average car that was written off last month was 28 years old. Buses are slightly younger – 26 years old. But the record holder was a true rarity – a GAZ-21 "Volga" from 1957, which lasted on Ukrainian roads for almost seven decades before being sent to a well-deserved "rest."
