The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that this defect poses a serious danger — there is a risk of losing speed data and warning indicators.
The recall list includes the most popular models: for Toyota, these are Crown, Crown Signia, RAV4, Camry, Grand Highlander, Venza, GR Corolla, Tacoma, Highlander, and 4Runner; for Lexus — LS, RX, and TX.
Notifications to owners are scheduled for mid-November. Official service centers will update the software for free or replace the screen. Toyota notes that the vehicles do not lose controllability, but the disappearance of key indicators could provoke emergency situations.
This is of particular importance for Ukraine. Our market has been filled with salvage Toyota and Lexus vehicles from the U.S. for many years, so owners of such cars should heed this information. However, free repairs are unlikely — the program only applies to vehicles imported officially.
