This event became another stage in a series of open meetings and discussions, the main goal of which is to develop a clear and effective strategy in the field of industry and investment.
As stated in his speech by the president of the association "Ukravtoprom" Mykhailo Reznik, the approach to the development of the domestic automotive industry has changed radically: in the coming years, the domestic market, as well as the previously familiar export destinations, will no longer be able to act as a regulator for industry enterprises.
"The industry vitally needs a new industrial policy and the search for new global players for cooperation. Otherwise, we risk losing an industry that in developed countries is the foundation of the economy and the main source of jobs for qualified specialists with decent wages," Reznik emphasized.
During the Forum, it was stated that, despite the ability to produce 400 thousand cars per year, Ukrainian factories are loaded only at 1.5% of their capacity. Of the twelve car assembly enterprises, only seven are in operation, and most of them produce not small series, but actually single units.
According to the head of "Ukravtoprom", the situation remains difficult but not critical. "With a ready product and sales channels, it is realistic to resume the work of enterprises and establish serial production of cars with a high degree of localization within six months. We have modern equipment, advantageous location of factories, and trained personnel. In addition, global demand for cars continues to grow, which leads to the need for new capacities and labor. We have all this. We face a choice: either we join the race to meet the demand for cars, or we provide jobs for citizens of more successful states," noted Mykhailo Reznik.
Continuing the conversation about the industry's capabilities, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the corporation "UkrAuto" Oleh Papashev stated that to implement the industrial scenario, close interaction with international corporations is necessary, which will allow Ukrainian enterprises to integrate into global supply chains.
Competition for such cooperation in the global automotive industry is extremely high, since the winner receives not only large financial injections but also the opportunity for a technological breakthrough that leads to an improvement in the quality of life of the population, progress of society, and strengthening of its security.
"We are surrounded by many rivals, and our starting positions are far from the most advantageous. It is time to discuss what Ukraine can offer industrial investors, where to look for growth points and prospects, and what steps the government and business should take together so as not to finally lose what was created with enormous effort," Papashev summarized.
