The department assures that such concrete pavement is 30% cheaper than asphalt, while its service life is 3.5 times longer (7-8 years versus 30).

"If everything goes well, the first projects will appear in about two months. This could be in the frontline zone and port areas. In the port area, a lot of grain is transported by vehicles that do not fully comply with weight standards, and a concrete road should withstand even the heaviest loads," Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pivovarskyi said at a meeting with media representatives.

Answering journalists' questions, Pivovarskyi said that the financing of these projects could be undertaken by local self-government bodies, as well as Ukravtodor or the ports themselves.

According to UNIAN, the state budget for the current year allocates UAH 25.5 billion for road management. However, only UAH 3.4 billion will be allocated for road repair and construction, since the remaining funds will go to pay off debt obligations.
