This was announced by the head of the company, Dieter Zetsche, speaking at the Shanghai Motor Show. According to him, this project was discussed more than 10 years ago, but in 2005 it was shelved. At that time, the ForFour model was planned to be transformed into a crossover.

Now Zetsche is confident that the Smart lineup needs to be expanded, so there is no doubt that a crossover version should see the light of day. However, it will not appear soon. For now, the company is focused on the production of the ForTwo and ForFour models and their electric versions.
Recall that the new generation Smart ForTwo and ForFour were presented in the summer of this year. The cars received a new platform, design, and also increased in size.
