As British media report, during this time hidden patrols on trucks have revealed 21,500 violations. There is also more detailed statistics: so, 6,000 drivers were caught talking on mobile phones while driving, another 6,200 – driving without seat belts. In addition, 1,500 people were caught driving without a license (apparently, they were identified by traffic violations).

Moreover, such "watchmen" not only proved effective, but, one might say, paid for themselves, since fines in Britain are quite substantial. For example, for the same mobile phone conversations, a penalty of 200 pounds sterling is provided.

Phantom patrols on trucks have several advantages at once. Firstly, stealth – few people would think that a police officer on duty could be riding in a tractor. Secondly, heavy vehicles provide better visibility due to the high seating position and allow catching not only car drivers but also truckers themselves for violations.

By the way, earlier AvtoPortal wrote that at the beginning of the year, the first phantom patrols (not on trucks, but on regular cars) appeared in Ukraine as well. So far, there are only four such crews, but in the foreseeable future, they want to increase their number to 300.
